Annual Voters’ Meeting: Sunday, June 29, at 11:30am in the sanctuary. Things to be considered: 1) Approval of the 2025-26 Vision/Traction Organizer (VTO); 2) Approval of the business administrator position (PLEASE NOTE: the job description for this position is attached to the June 29 Weekly Announcements that were emailed to congregation members. Paper copies of the job description are on the narthex table.); 3) Selection of a governance model for the school to pursue in partnership with Peace Lutheran Church; and 4) Authorization of a Governance Implementation Committee to begin research and draft a final recommendation regarding the school to our congregation.
For all voting members, this is a major milestone in our school’s history. Please plan to attend and stay informed as we prayerfully consider the future of our school ministry. Printed materials regarding the school were emailed to congregational members; paper copies are available on the narthex table.
PLEASE NOTE: RE: Voting Members - In our congregation's constitution, voting membership is given to men over the age of 18. This practice is rooted in our understanding of biblical principles concerning the roles of men and women within the church, particularly regarding spiritual leadership. Just as God has designated men to serve as Pastors and 0verseers of the church, He has also assigned them the role of spiritual heads of their households and the congregation (1 Tim 2:12; 1 Cor 14:34). By entrusting the responsibilities of voting and decision-making to the men of the congregation, we are honoring God's design for complementary roles and ensuring that the spiritual headship within the church is maintained in accordance with His Word. This also means that our voting members are to act not with selfish interests, but are given the great responsibility to vote and act for the good of and benefit of those they are representing, including their wives, children, and others in our congregation who do not vote. If you are not a voting member, your voice is still vitally important to us and is heard! Please share any concerns that you have with our church leaders; especially our Deacons and Pastors. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about why we hold to these teachings, please speak with our Pastors. In addition, the ELS has issued a statement on the roles of men and women in the church; you can access it at https://share.google/jZBVRFQAt7x4tMruz
Year of Jubilee: Final Push! We give thanks to God that our $250,000 goal for 2023–2024 was met! Now, as we near June 30, please prayerfully consider a one-time gift to help us close the gap. Your support is especially critical as we contemplate future changes in our school’s governance and mission. Let’s finish strong—together, for the future of our kids, grandkids, and God’s Kingdom! --Board of Budget and Finance and Board of Stewardship
Mount Olive’s Vacation Bible School, "Art Camp for Kids,” is June 30 to July 2. All are welcome to attend the Closing Reception & Art Show on Wednesday, July 2, at 6:30pm. Come to see and celebrate our young artists and the faith that they are witnessing through their work.
Bethany Lutheran College Fund Shortfall: The Bethany Fund is currently well below its annual goal. If you are able, please consider giving a gift to the Bethany Fund before the end of the fiscal year (June 30). Bethany could use our help and prayers as it seeks to maintain a balanced budget while continuing to provide an excellent, Christ-centered liberal arts education. "Midsummer With Matthew" Reading Plan: Several ELS Pastors (including Pr. Ulrich) are collaborating to produce a summer devotional series on the book of Matthew. Each day, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, you are invited to watch the introductory devotional video that is shared on our church Facebook page, or you can pick up a "Midsummer With Matthew" weekly devotional booklet to read before opening your own Bibles to read the selection of verses from Matthew. Devotional booklets for the weeks of June 22-28 and June 30-July 5 are on the narthex table.
The deadline for submitting announcements for the Sunday, July 6, Weekly Announcements is 12 pm on Wednesday, July 2, due to the 4th of July holiday.
