Help with Moving: Mount Olive member and Seminarian Graham Parsons has been assigned to be a vicar in Vero Beach, Florida. The Parsons’ family needs help with loading their moving truck on Sunday, June 7, at 12pm. Their address is 707 N. 4th Street in Mankato. Please come and lend a helping hand if you can, and keep the Parsons family in your prayers as they take this next big step in service for God’s Kingdom.
A Young Men's Bible Study Group is being organized by Pastor Soule. The group will meet monthly and focus on becoming more deeply rooted in the truths of God's Word, appreciating our confessional Lutheran heritage, and encouraging one another through the challenges of life as Christian men. Lime Creek Decommissioning Service: Saturday, June 20, at 10:30am. Following the service, there will be a meal and a program. Please RSVP to attend the service and meal at FriendsofLimeCreek.org. A charter bus will be available for transportation between Mankato and Lime Creek for $26.00 per seat. It will depart Bethany College at 9am and return after the program in the afternoon. If you plan to ride the bus, please register for that at FriendsofLimeCreek.org.
VBS Planning Meeting: Sunday, June 21, at 11:30am, in the Social Hall. Mount Olive's VBS Art Camp is June 29, 30, and July 1. Lutheran Youth Honor Choir ’26 Updates: All are cordially invited to hear the closing concert of the Lutheran Youth Honor Choir on Wednesday, June 24, at 5:30pm in Trinity Chapel at Bethany Lutheran College. The concert will feature the choir, conducted by Prof. Emeritus Dennis Marzolf and accompanied by Prof. Mark DeGarmeaux, and the handbell choir conducted by Prof. David Paulson. The Honor Choir also plans to sing for the Synod Sunday service on June 21 at 4pm, the Communion Service on Tuesday, June 23, at 5pm; and for the convention delegates following lunch break on June 24.
The Eighth Annual Apologetics and Worldview Conference is June 24-25 at Bethany Lutheran College. This year’s theme is “Artificial Intelligence,” with presentations by Rev. Jonathan Conner, Rev. Dr. Adam Brasich, and Dr. Brandon Steenbock. The conference is free, but please register at 2026 Conference - Apologetics Center.
Camp Indianhead Bus - High School Week: If your family would like to take advantage of bussing up to Camp Indianhead for High School Week, please register for bussing on our camp website: campindianhead.com/registration. The bus will cost $30/person and will depart from Mount Olive on Sunday afternoon, July 5. Please register by Thursday, June 25. More details will be shared after registration. Lutheran Youth Association Convention: July 23-26, at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. High-school aged youth (completed 8th grade) are encouraged to attend. The theme is “In the Beginning” and includes trips to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. Registration is $425. Go to els.org/lya/ for more information and to register. Donations Needed: Boxes of cake mixes, cans of frosting, and candles are being collected for a service project for our upcoming Vacation Bible School. Please place your donations in the box on the narthex table.
Mount Olive Social Hall Chair Drive: Donations are being taken for the purchase of new chairs for our Social Hall. Sponsor a chair for $25. Drop off your donations in the church office, or please list “chairs” on your offering envelope or on the check memo line. So far, ~$1400 has been received. Thank you!
The Sioux Trails Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents its annual Summer Noontime Organ Recitals at 12:10pm on Tuesdays in Mankato. In June, the series begins at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 222 Pfau Street, with performances by Kaleb Schmidt (6/9), Tom Andrews (6/23), and David Mertesdorf (6/30). Each recital is free. Save the Date: Mount Olive will be participating in the North Mankato Fun Days parade on Saturday, July 11. Youth participating in the parade with the Mount Olive float will receive free ride tickets. More information will be available within the next few weeks.
Cornerstone Lutheran School Update: The Cornerstone Lutheran School Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mr. Tom Hunter has accepted the divine call to serve as Interim Principal of Cornerstone Lutheran School for the 2026–2027 academic year. Mr. Hunter brings more than four decades of experience in Lutheran education as a teacher, principal, and professor in Lutheran elementary, high school, and higher education settings. Throughout his ministry, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to Christian education, educational leadership, and the training of future Lutheran educators. Mr. Hunter will officially begin his duties on July 1, 2026.
As Cornerstone Lutheran School enters a new chapter as a ministry jointly supported by Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church, and Eagle Lake Lutheran Church, the Board is thankful that the Lord has provided this Christian leader. This call is made with the understanding that the Cornerstone Lutheran School Board of Directors will begin the divine call process for a permanent Principal when the synodical call window opens in October 2026.
Please join us in thanking God for His continued blessings upon Cornerstone Lutheran School and in welcoming Mr. Hunter. We ask that you keep Mr. Hunter, our faculty and staff, students, families, supporting congregations, and the future leadership of Cornerstone Lutheran School in your prayers as we move forward together in service to Christ and His kingdom.
